Artist's Comments

At 48:08 into the movie 300 I had paused it and decided to draw the scene. This took me a couple of nights to complete, starting with Leonidas' head and leaving the unfortunate Persian for last. My dad wanted to see if he still had it in him so I let him add his own little touch to the helmet.

Now after reading this, how many of you will watch 300 and pause it at 48:08 through just to compare it?
....none probably.

I don't have to watch 300 again. That scene is absolutely clear in my mind, and this is an amazing recreation. Well done.

In the beginning there was a hum from a poet whose pulse fell drum-drum-drum...

Haha freaking awesome!

Oh my God thats simply amazing. Did you really draw this, it looks to perfect?

I bet it looks just like the film but I have to say that leonidas doesn't look "all in" enough for me...
Still an awesome piece. Favourite!!

Oh great Rich, the one time you try to use logic you do it in a place where logic doesn't exist

J: your name is Richard Wills, which is basically Dick Willy. Which could be substituted for penis penis.... I'm gonna call you penis squared.

Me: Great

A very nice drawing of the scene, but it didn't quite get the power with it. It looks like Leo's taking a heavy trip toward a guy who suddenly gets smashed back by the spear hold in a position that makes it looks like Leo didn't even try to do so. By lower his body to about 45-60 degrees forward, make his arm go straight through the air and get his legs in more of a running-position rather than the standing-position he currently have you might get a great "power effect".

The anatomy is very nice. Everything looks quite realistic except for that I mentioned earlier. I also love the enemy's position: everything here looks like quite a critical hit.

Overall, it's very, very great. Just get Leo in a better position and it'll be perfect.

This drawing is really cool! And thanks to your very cute and smart text I am going to watch the movie again and look for this scene. And the fact that you did this together with your dad sure adds that little something to it =) Just so you know, today it is St Leonidas day in Greece. You think I am kidding?

Here's proof then:

we celebrate today 15/04 : Leonidas, Leo, Leonie

I am glad that you picked this movie to draw a screenshot from. Its my favorite movie. And if you haven't guessed it so far, I am greek myself.

Congrats on the beautiful drawing to both of you =)

No amount of beauty can make up for a boring personality.

Hehe thanks you guys, everyone, for your appreciation. Thanks for the advice too, I can see how Leonidas does seem a bit... "lazy" in this pic. I couldn't hope to redo it though, too much has been done to correct the mistake and I will most likely find another scene in the movie to draw very similar to this one. But I will keep in mind to give it that extra "power" that the scene truely express.
Thanks again!
